Hebrews - September 29-October 5
Author: Unknown, but was acquainted with the apostles. “This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord (Jesus), was confirmed to us (author) by those who heard him (the apostles).” (Hebrews 2:3)
Audience: Unknown, but probably Jewish believers who are undergoing some persecution. The author assumes that they are very well acquainted with the Torah and Jewish scriptures.
Two main goals: 1) to elevate Jesus is superior, greater; 2) to challenge the reader to remain faithful to Jesus despite persecution.
